The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has an outstanding history of service and excellence in aero-medical and primary health care across Australia. One of Australia’s most iconic brands, every hour of every day the RFDS is performing lifesaving work across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

We are currently seeking casual Registered Nurses to assist in the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine across remote communities in WA and the NT. These highly unique roles are responsible for the provision of vaccination services, ensuring safe and quality care for all patients.

About the role


Provide competent, advanced nursing practice, through a primary health care/community development approach
Provide clinical nursing services in conjunction with general practitioners/medical officers/specialists and others providing health care services to remote communities
Participate as designated, with other health care providers and the community, in assessment of needs and planning to meet identified needs
Provide health education to individual clients and participates in health promotion programs
Liaise closely with other agencies and health care providers located in remote communities on service delivery issues

About you

Registration as a General Nurse with AHPRA
Immunisation provider certificate as recognised by WA Health (In practice this is the South Australia Health training course)
Australian Government Department of Health Mandatory Immunisation Training certificate including both Pfizer and AstraZeneca Modules
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in vaccination, including diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis and cold chain management of vaccines.
Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous people, groups and communities.
Ability to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and with other agencies.
Current registration as an immunisation provider as recognised by WA Department of Health
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications.
Current knowledge and commitment to equal opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery
Other relevant qualifications or Community Health Nursing experience, including immunisation certificate or willingness to gain
