Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) are looking for a Systems Architect to join our growing team. This role will aid in designing and implementing the overall system architecture to support business goals and technology roadmap.



About you


- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Systems Architect or in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing system architectures.
- A track record of successfully implementing systems as part of digital transformation initiatives.
- Deep understanding of a variety of technologies, platforms and frameworks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of system integration patterns, protocols, and standards.
- Understanding of security principles, authentication, authorisation, and compliance requirements as they relate to systems architecture.
- Experience with infrastructure components such as servers, storage systems, networking devices, and virtualisation technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts.


About the role


- Define and co-develop the overall system architecture strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and reliable system designs.
- Provide support, guidance, concise plans and successful delivery when leading strategic and digital projects.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Design and implement interfaces and integration patterns.
- Enforce security measures and best practices.
- Analyse and optimise system performance.
- Create and maintain architectural documentation.
- Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the system architecture and develop mitigation strategies.

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.



The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
