Solution Architect
Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) are looking for a Solution Architect to join our growing team. This role will be critical in designing and implementing technology solutions. You will be joining the team at an exciting time as we progress our Technology Roadmap.
About you
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Solution Architect or in a similar role.
- A track record of successfully delivering end to end technology solutions.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and architecting technology solutions, with a focus on scalability, reliability and performance.
- Deep understanding of a variety of technologies, platforms and frameworks, including but not limited to databases, web development frameworks and integration technologies.
- Working knowledge of public and vendor hosted cloud platforms architecture with experience in deploying cloud-native applications.
- Knowledge of data transformation, integration patterns, API design, and experience with integration technologies.
- Understanding of privacy and cyber security principles, authentication protocols, and compliancy frameworks as they relate to solution architecture.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote change, innovation and process improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communicator and experience collaborating with multi-disciplined teams.
About the role
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, define functional and non-functional requirements, and translate them into robust and scalable solutions
- Aid to develop integration components, interfaces and data flows, to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of technology solutions
- Work with various stakeholders to discover, map and diagram data and information assets and their locations
- Evaluate, document and recommend appropriate migration plans, technologies, frameworks, and platforms
- Matrix and implement detailed and integrated Role Based levels of access for existing and future applications
- Develop detailed plans to underpin technology initiative projects tasks
- Liaise with third party vendors regarding eg, contract queries, systems functionality, data cleansing, data migration, system integration capabilities

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State.
