The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) has an outstanding history of service and excellence in aero-medical and primary health care. The RFDS (WO) is experiencing record demand for its services and undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation.

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, this role is responsible for optimal management of the 24-hour state-wide Operations Centre to ensure we achieve the best patient outcomes. This role is accountable for the complex coordination of the aircraft fleet, clinical crews, pilots, ambulance and other services to provide a safe, efficient and high quality service. The role is also responsible for organisational preparedness in relation to emergency management and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities


Lead a team to ensure all people and assets logistics are optimised to deliver best patient outcomes in a cost effective manner
Identify and implement business improvement opportunities within the Department and wider organisation
Develop and implement strategic projects in line with the RFDS purpose, mission, organisation strategy and business initiatives
Contribute to the development of workforce plans and implement strategies to ensure optimal and efficient team structures and resourcing levels are in place.
Respond promptly to service delivery issues, making sound decisions based on potential business and patient impacts
Develop annual budgets and monitor budget performance
Promote a positive image of RFDS with stakeholders, in media and at public events or tours as required
Ensure business continuity and emergency plans are developed and executed as required
Lead workplace culture initiatives, supporting a positive work culture and employee engagement
Monitor and report on KPIs and other operational matters as required
Analyse data for the purpose of identifying trends and resolving issues

To be successful in this role you will require

Degree in business or similar discipline, or significant relevant experience
Demonstrated experience leading people and managing performance successfully across a multi-disciplinary team
Demonstrated ability to work with a senior leadership team and to meet individual and corporate accountabilities
Strong customer service skills, with a excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent strategic decision-making and organisational skills
Demonstrated experience in multitasking and the ability to make optimal decisions in a timely manner
Experience in emergency management, aviation and/or primary health care/pre-hospital care will be advantageous
