Western Australians living and working in our regions have relied on the RFDS to be there when they need us most for 95 years. The RFDS currently transfers patients each day using our flagship 24/7 aeromedical service. Additionally, patients receive primary health care services through RFDS clinics in remote Kimberley, Pilbara, Goldfields and Mid West communities. With five regional bases and 22 aircraft, the RFDS is committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of WA.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is seeking a General Manager - Primary Health Care & Industrial Health to ensure effective service delivery and maximise on opportunities for strategic growth. This is a newly created role reporting to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for leading a team to drive successful service delivery as well as purposefully considering selected expansion opportunities to pursue strategic excellence.


Responsibilities will include:


- Growth & Business Delivery – ensuring expansion and growth opportunities for primary health care in remote and rural WA, and in industrial health across commercial industries
- Continuous Improvement -
leading business transformation initiatives and ensuring high quality delivery of services with a continuous improvement focus
- Strategy & Operational Excellence –
implementing the Operations strategy and ensuring workforce plans enable efficient team structures and resourcing levels
- Executive Leadership -
promoting and modelling culture, values and behaviour as a member of the executive leadership team


To be effective in this role you should demonstrate:


- Extensive knowledge and experience within a Primary and Industrial Health field including degree qualifications in Primary or Industrial Health or similar and relevant positional experience
- A proven track record in executive leadership and operational excellence
- A commercial acumen that has resulted in business growth through transformational change
- Strong business functional skills – strategic development, stakeholder management, budgets, business analysis, safety, risk and marketing

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State.
