Corporate Communications Lead
The Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations (RFDS WO) has an outstanding history of service and excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our communications and marketing team and help make a difference in one of Australia’s oldest and most loved charities.
As a member of the team, you’ll have the privilege of working with some of our most dedicated supporters, community groups and corporate partners, as well as work alongside a passionate group of employees who are dedicated to ensuring all those who live, work or travel regionally have access to first class healthcare.
About the role
This role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to showcase their exceptional communication and project management skills.
Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager and working closely with the Organisational Projects Team, this newly created role will work across a range of internal and external communication channels to support key business and strategic priorities.
The RFDS is going through a period of exciting change with several projects underway as part of the RFDS’ Strategic Direction 2020 – 2025. This role will play a critical part in delivering communication requirements for these projects.
This person in this role will also work on a range of exciting projects to support the fundraising, community engagement and partnership teams.
The person in this role will also be required to represent the RFDS at events from time to time (sometimes during evenings and on weekends), write reports and other publications, undertake filming and photography to support communication requirements, manage internal communication channels and undertake some administrative tasks.
About you
The successful candidate will possess:
Essential
- A tertiary qualification and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in delivering corporate communications and/or public relations activities.
- Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communications skills with the ability to understand your audience and translate complex technical information into clear, compelling, targeted messages.
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to clearly and easily communicate high level project milestones and outcomes to internal and external audiences.
- Experience working in a similar organisation which has gone through substantial, large scale organisational change and transformation across people, process, information and technology.
- Demonstrated experience in content creation for internal and external communication channels including websites, employee intranets, social media, briefing documents, creative and digital assets, publications, speeches, presentations and reports.
- Excellent time management, organisation, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills and a strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and work flexibly to deliver on requirements to a high standard.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of multiple teams, with a flexible, positive and collaborative approach.
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in organisational change management, in particular a strong understanding and experience of how people go through the change process, with demonstrable experience and understand of change management principles, methodologies and tools.
- Previous experience working at a not-for-profit organisation.
- Change management certification.
- Flexible and adaptable with demonstrated ability in be able to work in evolving situations.
What your average day might look like in this role
Starting out the day, you might attend a working group meeting with representatives from across the organisation to discuss an important ICT project that’s just kicking off.
After the meeting, you’ll develop the internal communications plan to ensure all employees across the service know what’s going on, and when and how it will affect them.
Next, you might visit the Organisational Projects Team to help develop a change management approach for a digital transformation project. You will partner with a project team to conduct a stakeholder analysis and create an end-to-end project communications plan. You will ensure that our most important resource – our people – are brought along on the change journey to ensure the project has the best chance of success.
In the afternoon you’ll head back to the communications office to prepare some content for the intranet, commence preparation for a corporate communications plan to welcome our newest board members and liaise with several employees to plan an upcoming photoshoot to promote our Corporate Christmas Appeal.
Rounding out the day, you’ll prepare a speech and presentation for our CEO who is speaking at an upcoming event.
