Business Continuity and Emergency Management Advisor

About the Role
We currently have an opening for a Business Continuity & Emergency Management Advisor to support the organisation with the provision of emergency management planning to ensure continuity of services 24/7 during crisis management and planning recovery phases. The focus of the role will be on the logistics of assets, people, communications and consumables within Health Service Delivery and Operations, and acting as a key liaison point for various District and Local Emergency Management Committees and Operational Area Support Groups throughout WA.
Responsibilities
• Leading the creation and implementation of the company’s overall long term emergency management strategy and annual compliance
• Develop and implement the department’s strategy and prioritise in alignment with the RFDS purpose, mission, organisation strategy and business initiatives
• Deliver the development of workforce plans and implement strategies to ensure optimal and efficient team structures and resourcing levels are in place for emergency management response
• Delivery and maintenance of business continuity planning to the Executive Leadership Team for whole of business
• Leading department preparedness and focus on planning and improvements to sustain ongoing and uninterrupted business for RFDS throughout Western Australia
• Participate actively and work closely and constructively with the executive and leadership team and managers across the business to set and implement policies and procedures to deliver integrated business outcomes
• Lead business transformation initiatives within emergency management and business continuity planning across all departments
• Identify and implement business improvement in relation to disaster preparedness and deliver continuous improvement of the wider organisation by recommending sensible changes and communicating issues that may impact the organisation
• Demonstrate leadership in, role model and comply with, all health, safety and hygiene policies, systems, and OH&S legislation to maintain an appropriate working environment
• Implement and monitor safety management systems that ensure that work carried out throughout the department is conducted safely at all times, is compliant with relevant legislation and is supported by appropriate and effective business processes
• Contribute to developing and nurturing a culture that supports wellbeing
• Represent RFDS at District and Local Emergency Management Committees throughout WA and at Operational Area Support Groups
• Develop, track, and explain emergency management budget
About You
To be successful in this role you will need:
• A degree in emergency management or similar disciplines, or have significant relevant industry and positional experience
• Solid experience in providing advice in business continuity and emergency management, supported with experience in an organisational/coordination capacity
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to work within a senior leadership team and to meet individual and corporate accountabilities
• Policy development and procedural development experience
• Experience in building and leading teams to achieve successful outcomes
• Excellent decision making and organisational skills
• Ability to think and act strategically, exercising sound judgement
• Demonstrated experience in multitasking and having the ability to make optimal decisions in a timely manner
• Strong customer service skills
• Experience in building and leading teams to achieve successful outcomes
• Ideally have experience in aviation or healthcare, although this is not essential
• Ability to work independently, with a high sense of responsibility and initiative
• Ability to be on call and work outside normal business hours may be required
