The purpose of consumer engagement is to create and empower patient ownership by: 

- Understanding our patient and community needs, priorities and values about health and healthcare; 

- Educating our patients and our communities of interest so that they can participate in a fully informed way, and; 

- Ensuring accountability for the service to inform decision-making around the finite resources available in this setting.
