The Royal Flying Doctor Service has focused on the needs of remote and rural Australians for more than nine decades.
To deliver a sustainable and accountable healthcare organisation, the RFDS is continually seeking ways to improve health outcomes for the communities it serves.
The purpose of consumer engagement is to create and empower patient ownership by:
- Understanding our patient and community needs, priorities and values about health and healthcare;
- Educating our patients and our communities of interest so that they can participate in a fully informed way, and;
- Ensuring accountability for the service to inform decision-making around the finite resources available in this setting.
