Following three years of national support for the RFDS, HCF Australia (HCF) is now focusing its commitment on improving health outcomes in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

The renewed three-year major partnership will see the Flying Doctor and Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund continue to work together for regional, rural and remote communities across Australia’s central corridor.

Every 10 minutes, the Flying Doctor delivers the finest care to someone living, working or travelling in rural and remote South Australia and the Northern Territory.

HCF Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Lorraine Thomas said the partnership reflects HCF’s ongoing commitment to improving access to health care.

“Access to quality health care shouldn’t depend on where you live,” Ms Thomas said.

“For people in rural and remote communities, getting the right care at the right time can be a real challenge. The Royal Flying Doctor Service is a lifeline, providing trusted health care when and where it’s needed most.”

Since 2022, HCF has provided national support to the RFDS through vital funding, advocacy and delivery of the national Health in the Bush video series.

From 2026, the partnership will continue to support many programs, including aeromedical care, primary health, oral health, mental health, Aboriginal health and maternal health.

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with RFDS SA/NT. It means ongoing support for the aircraft, equipment and services that enable its teams to deliver critical care on the ground,” Ms Thomas said.

“Ultimately, it’s about removing barriers to care and helping more people live healthier, longer lives.”

RFDS SA/NT Executive General Manager Strategy, Brand & Reputation Charlie Paterson said the organisation is proud to welcome HCF as a Major Partner.

“Every ten minutes, the RFDS provides essential health care to someone living, working or playing in remote South Australia and the Northern Territory – but we can’t do that work alone,” Mr Paterson said.

“That’s why we’re delighted to have HCF back on board with us – as a member of our team – helping to deliver essential healthcare services for people in rural and remote areas.”

In recognition of the major sponsorship, a medically-equipped RFDS aircraft VH-FXN will bear the HCF brand on its fuselage.

“We’re equally delighted to have the HCF brand on one of our aircraft which delivers health care at the front line every single day of the year,” Mr Paterson said.
