About this Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and making a tangible impact on workplace safety and wellbeing. We are seeking a proactive and passionate Work Health & Safety (WHS) Advisor to join our Safety, Health, Environment & Quality team.
Reporting to the Principal WHS Advisor, you will provide operational WHS support across RFDS SA/NT, partnering with leaders and employees to foster a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices across diverse and geographically dispersed operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing practical WHS advice and support to operational teams across metropolitan, regional and remote locations.
- Assisting with hazard identification, risk assessments and implementation of effective control measures.
- Supporting workplace inspections, audits and safety assurance activities.
- Participating in incident investigations and monitoring corrective actions through to completion.
- Supporting environmental compliance activities, emergency preparedness and incident response initiatives.
- Assisting with the delivery of health, wellbeing and psychosocial safety programs.
- Supporting injury management and return-to-work activities.
- Delivering WHS training, inductions and awareness initiatives to build organisational capability.
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety performance.
About You
You are a motivated WHS professional with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for fostering safe and healthy workplaces.
You will bring:
- Experience in workplace health and safety, including hazard identification, risk assessment and incident management.
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, safety management systems and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting investigations, audits and corrective action processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Experience supporting health, wellbeing and psychosocial safety initiatives.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on actions.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) with relevant WHS experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting workplace health and safety activities in an operational environment.
- Working knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and safety management systems.
- Qualifications or experience in injury management and return-to-work coordination will be highly regarded.
- Experience in healthcare, aviation, emergency services, remote operations or other high-risk environments will be advantageous.
