Volunteer Opportunity - Health Consumer Advisory Sub-Committee

Do you have an interest in the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and the care it provides every ten minutes to someone living, working or travelling in rural and remote South Australia and the Northern Territory?

RFDS Central Operations (serving SA/NT) is looking to partner with volunteers from the local community to help shape an approach to health care that puts patients at the centre of everything we do.

As a member of the Health Consumer Advisory Sub Committee (HCAC), you will meet regularly via video conferencing to provide advice, direction and advocacy for the planning and delivery of RFDS health care services.

This is a unique opportunity to bring your energy, skills and engagement to advocate on behalf of individuals and communities living, working and travelling in rural and remote South Australia and the Northern Territory.

What is the HCAC?

As a member of HCAC, you will be asked to:

• Provide feedback and identify opportunities where the RFDS can best meet consumer and community needs;
• Participate in relevant forums to provide a patient perspective;
• Review written information provided to patients and consumers of our services to ensure they are inclusive and relevant for their intended audience;
• Participate in the broad strategic planning and service development process of RFDS to enhance consumer engagement strategies; and
• Assist in developing and monitoring key performance indicators for service safety quality and accessibility.

Commitment and remuneration

We are seeking interest from South Australia and the Northern Territory from metropolitan, regional, rural and remote areas.

These positions are strictly voluntary.

All HCAC members will be expected to have reasonable access to technology to enable them to join regular meetings via online video conferencing (minimum four times a year) and to communicate via email on projects outside of scheduled meetings.

You will be provided relevant training to support your successful contribution to this sub-committee. You will also be required to adhere to the HCAC Terms Of Reference outlined here.
