About the RFDS (Central Operations)

Saving and improving lives for over 90 years, the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is a leader in the delivery of emergency aeromedical and community health care services to rural and remote Australia.

Serving South Australia and the Northern Territory, the team at RFDS Central Operations exists to support happier and healthier Australians, no matter where they live, work or play.

About this Opportunity

Ideally based out of Port Augusta, (can be negotiated,) the Prevention Lead Oral Health Program Hygienist/Oral Health Therapist provides an integrated oral health service within the scope of the Dental Practice Act and Regulations through expert clinical dental skills, and effective membership in both the dental team and multidisciplinary primary health care team.

The role will be critical in providing individualised oral hygiene care and treatment to remote communities and help to improve general health and wellbeing, thereby contributing to the objectives of the Oral Health Program and Integrated Primary Health Program objectives to ensure target communities in remote South Australia and the Northern Territory receive Oral health services that they would otherwise not have access to.

With experience in rural and remote health you have insight into or direct experience of the challenges of delivering a mobile/ portable dental service in remote locations and demonstrated sensitivity to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) individuals and communities.
