About this Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Payroll Officer to join our People, Culture & Environment team.
Reporting to the Payroll Services Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services across the organisation. You will contribute to a broad range of payroll functions, ensuring employees are paid correctly, records are maintained accurately, and payroll processes meet legislative and organisational requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the processing of fortnightly payroll and related reconciliations.
- Managing payroll transactions including employee commencements, departures, leave, allowances and salary adjustments.
- Assisting with month-end, end-of-financial-year and Fringe Benefits Tax administration.
- Providing advice and support on payroll-related policies, awards and employment conditions.
- Preparing payroll reports and responding to employee payroll enquiries.
- Maintaining payroll records and ensuring employee data integrity.
- Supporting payroll system enhancements, testing activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assisting with superannuation, salary packaging and compliance reporting requirements.
About You
You are a highly organised payroll professional who values accuracy, confidentiality and exceptional customer service. You enjoy building positive working relationships and can confidently manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
You will bring:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a payroll administration or payroll officer role.
- Experience using iCHRIS/CHRIS21 is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate outcomes.
- Experience using payroll and human resource information systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Well-developed analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
- A proactive approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience working within a not-for-profit environment will be highly regarded.
