About the role

The Flight Nurse Manager will take a lead role in the formulation of strategic and operational objectives, plans and developments.
Responsibilities include:
• First line management of Flight Nurses & Deputy Senior Flight Nurses
• Provides leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor and resource person to the flight nursing team
• Leads by example in relation to RFDSCO’s values and behaviours
• Demonstrates people management skills including conflict resolution and team building
• Collaborates with the Manager of Clinical Education & Development, assists with the coordination of FN education activity both internal and external, reviewing FN competence routinely against the agreed capability framework.
• Manage nursing resources to ensure the delivery of a safe, high quality and efficient service,
• Takes a lead role in the development, implementation, evaluation and review of clinical practice standards, manuals and compliance systems as a member of the Nursing Leadership team.
• Demonstrates competence in advanced clinical practice by delivering a high standard of patient care and FN education as a member of the interdisciplinary education team.
• Contributes to maintaining our accreditation to all safety and quality accreditation programs by participating in ongoing education and actively supporting the implementation of initiatives

About You
You will be a Registered Nurse with Midwifery, Emergency and/or Intensive Care Nursing qualifications and demonstrate comprehensive experience in aeromedicine and critical care.
You will also have the proven ability to lead and manage a team, the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrate confidence in decision making, and experience in implementing major change. Previous experience in the indigenous context will be highly regarded.
