The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Central Operations has bases in Darwin, Alice Springs, Port Augusta and Adelaide, serving those living, working and travelling in rural and remote locations across an area of more than 2.3 million square kilometres.
About this Role
Reporting to Head of Training and Checking, this newly created role supports the Head of Training and Checking in developing, managing, improving and monitoring operational standards through the Aviation Training and Checking System. The role also provides Line Pilot roster relief at all RFDSCO bases within an Air/Medical Environment and pursuant to the RFDSCO standards and manuals and CASA regulations. Responsibilities include conducting pilot training and checking in accordance with CAR 217 including to Proficiency Check levels, simulation of emergencies and abnormal conditions and conducting flight reviews under Part 141.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will hold a current Australian Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL-A), multi engine Command Instrument Rating (CIR) with a minimum of 3 completed IPC’s, a grade 1 instructor rating and multi engine training approval. It would be an advantage to have aeromedical and remote experience, to hold an Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL) and a Flight Examiner Rating – Multi-engine IPC.
The minimum required experience is:
• 3,000 hours total
• 500 hours multi-engine
• 200 hours night flying
• 200 hours in command - King Air (B200 or B350)
• Previous approval in CAR217 training and checking organisation
• 3 years’ experience as a Line Pilot, operating turbine engine aircraft in Air Transport operations.
