The RFDS Oral Health Program has been established to improve the oral health outcomes and general health status of communities in remote and very remote Australia.

About this Role


Reporting to the Senior Dentist and Dental Coordinator, this casual role will support Clinical trips occurring throughout the year. The Dental Assistant will undertake trips from the Adelaide base within South Australia and Northern Territory. Incorporating numerous responsibilities beyond those of a dental assistant in an urban setting, key aspects of the position include:

• Actively engaging in and upholding NSQHS Standards
• Flexibility to provide chair side assistance in various rural and remote settings
• Demonstrate strong problem solving skills in managing and operating mobile and fixed dental facilities
• Attention to detail in administrative duties including managing patient appointments and records

About You


To be successful in this role you will have previous experience in a dental practice setting and minimum Certificate III in Dental Assisting. While based from Adelaide, consideration will be given to applicants located in Central Australia or northern South Australia.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity that will provide a challenging and rewarding working environment, helping those most in need. The role requires regular travel by four-wheel drive vehicle and light aircraft, and extended stays in rural and remote locations.
