About Royal Flying Doctor Service (Central Operations)

Australia’s most reputable charity, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides 24-hour emergency aeromedical and primary health care services to those who live, work and travel in rural and remote Australia.

Our Darwin Tourist Facility provides an opportunity to learn about the history, staff and patients of the Royal Flying Doctor service and their heroic stories. The events surrounding the Bombing of Darwin Harbour in 1942 and the destruction it brought to the city can also be experienced through virtual and interactive technology.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a number of experienced and enthusiastic Customer Service Assistants to ensure that our visitors receive the best possible customer service together with a unique learning experience. This is a varied role, whereby you will be motivated to:

  • Coordinate and host tourist groups through the facility
  • Coordinate school visits, educational and local community events and activities
  • Manage advanced bookings with a quality customer service focus
  • Assist in the ordering, pricing, storage and displaying of merchandise, as well as stocktake duties as required
  • Complete point of sale purchases and provide a positive, lasting experience for all visitors.

Rosters is to cover opening hours Monday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm. Please note that shifts will include weekends and some public holidays.
As part of this role, you may be required to lift or move heavy objects (estimated no greater than 15kg). Occasional use of a stepladder is required in this position.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A bright and enthusiastic personality
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to speak confidently to groups
  • Previous retail sales and point of sale experience
  • Exceptional customer service and organisational skills
  • A high level of integrity, punctuality and reliability.
  • Previous experience in the Tourism Industry is preferred but not essential.
