About this Opportunity
The Cultural Mental Health Officer is responsible for providing culturally appropriate mental health care which is evidenced based, recovery oriented, and appropriate to individual and community needs. Working collaboratively with GPs, clinic staff and other mental health service providers, the Cultural Mental Health Officer supports the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with individuals, groups and organisations.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have a demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture, customs and history, and working knowledge of Aboriginal family structure. Experienced in the identification of Aboriginal mental health needs, you competently deliver evidence based, therapeutic interventions to clients with low intensity mental health issues. An effective communicator with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, you are able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You will be an AHPRA registered Aboriginal Worker or Aboriginal Health Worker with qualifications and/or experience in Aboriginal Health or Mental Health.
