About this Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Quality Manager to provide leadership across the safety and quality systems supporting our Engineering, Airworthiness and Maintenance Control functions.
This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of engineering quality and assurance within an organisation where aviation safety is fundamental to the services we deliver. You will oversee internal auditing and external regulatory interfaces, including CASA surveillance, supplier and subcontractor assurance, safety investigations, root-cause analysis and the effective close-out of findings and corrective actions.
Reporting to the Head of Aviation Safety & Quality, this is a senior role responsible for ensuring our engineering and maintenance activities continue to meet the highest standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance. You will lead and continually improve the Engineering and Maintenance Control Quality Management System, oversee audit and assurance activities, and provide independent, evidence-based advice on compliance and quality performance.
Working across the aviation business, you will partner closely with Engineering and Maintenance Control leaders and engage with regulators including CASA and the ATSB. You will play an important role in strengthening safety culture, managing risk and driving practical continuous improvement across a highly regulated aviation environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and continually improve the Engineering and Maintenance Control Quality Management System (QMS).
- Manage internal audits and regulatory assurance activities, including CASA surveillance and the close-out of findings.
- Ensure engineering and maintenance activities meet relevant aviation regulatory, safety and quality requirements.
- Lead safety investigations, risk assessments and root-cause analysis, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide trusted quality and compliance advice to Engineering, Maintenance Control and senior leaders.
- Build strong relationships with regulators and key stakeholders while promoting a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
About You
You will bring significant experience within aviation engineering, airworthiness, maintenance control, safety or quality management, along with a strong understanding of the Australian aviation regulatory environment. You will be a confident leader and communicator who can build strong relationships, influence decision-making and provide practical quality and compliance advice across the organisation.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Experience in a senior aviation engineering, airworthiness, maintenance control, safety or quality management role.
- Strong working knowledge of the Australian aviation regulatory framework, including CAR 30, CASR Part 145, DAMP and TSP, together with AS9110C, Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Demonstrated experience in aviation quality and compliance, including auditing, risk management, investigations and corrective actions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence across operational and regulatory environments.
- Well-developed analytical, investigative and problem-solving capability.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Aviation or a related discipline, or extensive relevant industry experience.
- Relevant Lead Auditor and Safety Investigation qualifications.
Experience in a CASA-approved key personnel role within an aviation maintenance or engineering environment will be highly regarded. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is also desirable.
