About this Opportunity

As a Flight Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality emergency retrieval and inter-facility transport services across the Northern Territory.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary aeromedical team alongside Doctors, Pilots and Transport Officers, you will provide expert clinical care to patients living, working and travelling in remote, rural and regional communities.

You will assess, stabilise and manage patients in challenging and dynamic environments, ensuring safe and effective care throughout every stage of retrieval and transport. Drawing on your emergency or critical care expertise, you will contribute to clinical excellence, support evidence-based practice and uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Through your advanced clinical expertise, sound judgement and collaborative approach, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, high-quality aeromedical care, supporting positive patient outcomes across remote, rural and regional communities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-quality emergency retrieval and inter-facility transport nursing services across South Australia and the Northern Territory.
  • Provide advanced clinical assessment, stabilisation and ongoing management of patients in aeromedical and remote healthcare environments.
  • Work collaboratively with Doctors, Pilots and Transport Officers to ensure safe and effective patient transfers.
  • Apply specialist emergency or critical care expertise to support evidence-based practice and positive patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism and clinical excellence while providing care in dynamic and challenging operational settings.

About You

You are an experienced and adaptable Registered Nurse with a strong background in emergency or critical care nursing and a passion for delivering high-quality care in dynamic aeromedical environments.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • A minimum five years’ experience in emergency, intensive care, or critical care nursing
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Post-graduate qualification in emergency/critical care nursing, with a minimum of three years’ clinical experience gained following completion of the qualification
  • Demonstrated understanding of NSQHS standards and how they apply in the Aeromedical setting
  • Advanced life support, and paediatric life support certification with an accredited training organisation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-pressure environments while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to think critically and apply sound clinical judgement in high-pressure environments, while delivering culturally safe and responsive care to diverse patient populations.

The following will be highly regarded:

· Dual registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife.

· Formal qualifications in aeromedical retrieval nursing.

· Experience in aeromedical retrieval, patient transport or emergency service environments.
