The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is undertaking the aeromedical retrieval of a man following a motorcycle accident on the Eyre Highway this afternoon.

The patient – an adult male – was discovered by a passer-by who raised the alarm. It is reported that the man has suffered multiple fractures.

The RFDS crew – comprising a Doctor and Flight Nurse – departed RFDS Port Augusta Base and has landed on Chadwick Roadstrip to airlift the patient for urgent medical care in Adelaide.

Traffic on the Chadwick Roadstrip, located on the Eyre Highway around 100 kilometres east of the SA/WA border, was temporarily blocked by SA Police and other services to enable the landing and take-off of the RFDS ‘flying intensive care unit’ on the designated 1200-metre highway landing strip.
