The RFDS is Australia’s biggest waiting room. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver telehealth and a 24-hour emergency retrieval service to rural and remote Australia.

The Simulator Technician is part of the Aviation Training Team which support RFDS pilot flight training and checking through operation and management of the Dubbo Flight Training Precinct, which include the King Air 250/350i Flight Training Device. Essential experience:
  • Certificate IV in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering – Avionics or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 Years Aircraft Avionics maintenance experience and/or at least 3 years’ experience as a flight simulator technician.
  • Hands on workplace experience using hand tools and specialised test equipment.
  • A willingness to learn and develop both practical and professional skillset
  • Australian citizenship, residency or an approved work visa
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination
 Desirable experience:
  • Textron King Air Avionics Maintenance experience (Highly Desirable)
  • Extensive experience with Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion avionics (Highly Desirable)
  • Simulator Technician experience (Highly Desirable)
  • Experience with Evaluation of Synthetic Training Device Training (Highly Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of engineering, configuration management and logistics support requirements as they relate to FSTD’s.
  • Experience of working with Civil Aviation regulatory Authorities
  • Strong knowledge of Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 60 and CASA Approved FTD Simulator Quality Management System
  • Computer, IT, Network and Domain literacy
  • Experience of working with compliance management and safety management systems
  • Proven track record of planning skills with the ability to quickly analyse problems and implement practical solutions.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office products
