RFDS Western Operations Nursing Midwifery Scholarships

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations is offering 2 scholarships in 2023-24 to Registered Nurses who would like to work for the RFDS but do not have the required Midwifery qualification. 

The Savannah Addis Midwifery Scholarship supported and funded by Rural Health West, and the Midwifery Scholarship supported and funded by the RFDS Federation Office, offer financial assistance towards a post-graduate diploma of midwifery. 

Successful applications are required to complete the specified course and then work for a minimum of one year at one of the five RFDS bases in WA, selected by the organisation.

Have you always dreamed of working for Australia's aero medical health service but do not meet the Flight Nurse position requirements to be endorsed as a Midwife?

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is now providing an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified Registered Nurses to access a limited number of Midwifery Scholarships. 

The Scholarships, available across Australia, will provide financial support to those Nurses so they can gain this important qualification, which is a requirement to become an RFDS Flight Nurse.

These scholarships are to be used for costs associated with your study towards a Midwifery Qualification in 2023/24 such as course fees, text books, etc.

Selection Criteria:

  • Registered General Nurse with AHPRA Registration;
  • Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Certificate / experience;
  • Significant relevant postgraduate nursing experience;
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency in Australia.

Applications for 2023-2024 scholarships open on July 1st 2023.
