RFDS Victoria is working to overcome shortages of medical and healthcare professionals in rural and regional Victoria.

One way of achieving this is by encouraging young health students from country Victoria to complete their studies and return back to the country to assist improve Victoria's health.

The Give Them Wings Scholarship is designed to aid students by assisting them with their study costs. Up to five scholarships are available for first year nursing and allied health students.

RFDS Victoria encourages applications from all diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply.

Scholarships are valued at $2,500 each and contribute towards university living expenses for first year students.

Scholarship recipients are provided with an RFDS experience which includes a day on the road or in the air with the RFDS crew, and are invited to speak at an RFDS event.

The Give Them Wings Scholarships are funded by fundraising from the Bayside Auxiliary.

Scholarships of $2500
Payment of $2000 will be presented to the winners at an award ceremony in Richmond, Victoria in July 2018. The remaining $500 will be held by RFDS Victoria in trust to cover any costs associated with delivery of the 'RFDS Experience' including accommodation and presentation related costs. RFDS will forward any unused portion of the withheld amount before June 2018.
