One way of achieving this is by encouraging young health students from country Victoria to complete their studies and return back to the country to assist improve Victoria's health. The Give Them Wings Scholarship is designed to aid regional and rural Victorian students by assisting them with their study costs.

Scholarships are valued at $3,000 each and contribute towards university living expenses for first year students. Up to four scholarships are available for first year nursing and allied health students. Scholarship recipients are provided with an RFDS experience which includes a day on the road or in the air with the RFDS crew, and are invited to speak at an RFDS event. The Give Them Wings Scholarships are funded by fundraising from the Bayside Auxiliary.
