Vaccinations

To Richard, it's rolling up a sleeve without the eight-hour drive.

Our services in SA/NT

The Flying Doctor manages the delivery of public health immunisation programs to rural and remote communities, reaching children, pregnant and new mothers, as well as adults in ‘high risk’ health categories.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, our immunisation program has significantly expanded to include COVID-19 vaccinations.

To date, more than 12,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered by RFDS teams in isolated communities stretching from SA's Kangaroo Island to Arnhem Land in the Territory's Top End.

Outback bush runs

To Charlie, it’s the jab that keeps the station running.

The staff at Commonwealth Hill Station in South Australia’s Far North were among hundreds of station workers across South Australia and the Northern Territory to receive their COVID-19 vaccine doses via a series of fly-in clinics, otherwise known as a “bush run”.

In the Territory, the RFDS partnered with the NT Cattlemen’s Association to deliver the service.

Remote community visits

To Michael, it’s the winning strategy to keep his teammates safe.

Michael plays for his local footy club in Ngukurr, located in the NT’s Roper River region.

He and his teammates recently lined up at their weekly training session, encouraged by their head coach, to receive their first COVID-19 vaccination dose from the RFDS vaccination team.

Working in partnership with local health Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations across the Top End, the Flying Doctor has provided fly-in access to the vaccine – almost 5,000 doses so far.
