The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) undertook the aeromedical retrieval of four people on-board a helicopter when it crashed last night (17 January) near Yulara, close to Uluru in the Northern Territory.
Two RFDS aircraft and crews were dispatched from the RFDS Alice Springs Base, landing near the crash site around 10:30pm.
It is reported that two of the patients - the pilot and one of the passengers - are in a critical condition. All four patients were airlifted from the crash site to Alice Springs Hospital.
The pilot, who suffered serious spinal injuries, was transferred this morning to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. One of the passengers, who also suffered serious spinal injuries, will be transferred to Adelaide today for further treatment.
One other passenger suffered multiple fractures and remains in Alice Springs Hospital.
