On Thursday 27th August the Royal Flying Doctor Service hosted some of Perth's 'up and coming' company directors at the Australian Institute of Company Directors networking event. Direct Connect was an informal cocktail evening that recognised achievements of recent AICD graduates and connected emerging directors who are looking to develop contacts in their industry.
RFDS General Manager Corporate Affairs, Nick Harvey, says the Flying Doctor needs to have a business focus not only on life saving services but also on innovation and leadership.
"To continue to meet the changing needs of West Australians right around our vast state, the RFDS must be increasingly innovative and efficient in its approach and look for new ways to ensure we can improve our capability and our reach and build a strong and sustainable foundation for our business into the future," Mr Harvey said.
"We provide emergency care, life saving outcomes, and health treatment and advice to almost 70,000 people in Western Australia every year and have done now in WA for 80 years."
During the function, guests were offered a tour of the Jandakot base, with Executive Members providing insight into the Operations, Medical and Aviation elements of our organisation. The group were very engaged and interested in our business capability, our challenges and our future focus.
We look forward to welcoming the AICD back to Jandakot for the annual Christmas function in December.
