Graphic: Picture of Ray Conway in the wheelchair
We would like to say a big get well soon to one of our long-time volunteers Ray Conway. Ray has recently returned from hospital for what was supposed to be a routine hip replacement and resulted in Ray suffering serve complications and a three month recovery.
Ray provides essential support to our Education Manager Tom Ryan preparing the flight simulator for events and often accompanying Tom on the road helping with school presentations. On top of this, Ray has built numerous accessories for our displays, a pedal radio and an electronic map that highlights all the RFDS bases located across Australia.
Recently Chief Executive Scott Chapman gave Ray a call when he was in hospital to check in and see how he was going.
When Scott asked Ray about how he planned to get back home after his hip operation, Ray said he was going home from hospital in the back of his son's ute. After hearing this, Scott told Ray to leave it with him and that he would get back to him.
The following morning Ray got a phone call from one of our mobile patient care drivers, Simone, who informed Ray that she would pick him up in an RFDS ambulance and drive him back to his home in Deer Park.
Everyone at RFDS Victoria looks forward to seeing Ray back on his feet when he's fully recovered.
