Senior Dental Assistant
Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and health services for people in rural and remote Australia. RFDS Victoria supports the work of the Flying Doctor throughout Australia and is also growing its services across the State.
In Victoria the RFDS works in partnership with a number of community health organisations across the State to improve the health and well-being of our rural and regional communities. We believe in creating opportunities so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services. Each year we come into contact with over 30,000 patients throughout Victoria, this includes primary health care and transport by air or on the road.
Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Senior Dental Assistant role will play a crucial part in assisting with the delivery of the Flying Doctor Dental Clinic program. This program is key to RFDS Victoria’s vision to bringing Primary Health Care services to those who are otherwise unable to access them.
The Senior Dental Assistant will be required to work closely with the Health Service Manager and Program Coordinators to deliver a high quality dental program across a number of sites across rural Victoria. This role will be responsible for the management of a dynamic team of dental assistants and will encompass all aspects of staff management including the rostering, supervision and training of team members as well as ordering and stock control management to ensure ongoing excellence in standards of clinical safety and quality.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to manage and mentor staff, possess a strong sense of personal drive and accountability and be a strong and confident communicator. Well-developed administration skills and a keen attention to detail will be essential to success in this role, as well as the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
Please be aware that this role will require a willingness and ability to conduct regular travel to various program locations throughout the state as per a predetermined schedule to work clinically and provide supervision. As such a Victorian drivers licence will be essential.
