The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. RFDSSE provides emergency retrieval services inter-hospital road transport, primary and allied health services, dental services, and tele-health services to those living in remote, rural and outback NSW and travelling in western and far-western New South Wales, south-west Queensland and north eastern South Australia.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section is seeking full time Senior Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer based in Dubbo New South Wales.

The Senior Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer is an Indigenous identified position that will lead the development of frameworks, systems and projects that improves community engagement and planning activities that will support the RFDSSE Health services.

The Senior Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer will provide internal consultancy to department managers and staff on the planning and delivery of community engagement strategies. It will be a requirement to actively participate as part of the RFDSSE team contributing to the fostering of resilient, well-connected communities, and raising the profile of the RFDSSE in the communities we serve.

The role will be responsible for frontline community engagement and relationship management supporting the overall mission of the RFDSSE. The Senior Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer will also be required to support the Community Engagement Team in Broken Hill.

Skills Required

• Community relations role or related field and/or relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating health programs, events and activities within a community setting
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community awareness programs.
• An understanding of person-centred care and the role of consumers in the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of health services
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health literacy, consumer and community engagement and network development, including current policies and frameworks.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence essential.
• Experience in the not for profit/non-government sector
• Membership and/or Certificate Training from IAP2 very desirable.
