Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency aeromedical and allied health services for people in rural and remote Australia. About the Role

The Regional Manager Volunteers leads the growth of an inclusive volunteering program that strengthens organisational strategy and community connection. This pivotal role shapes a future‑focused framework built on best practice, ensuring volunteers are empowered, valued, and equipped to contribute meaningfully. By driving innovation, governance, and collaboration, the Regional Manager fosters continuous improvement, cultural change, and program expansion - establishing volunteering as a cornerstone of service excellence, social impact, and long‑term sustainability.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive volunteering strategy ensuring that it addresses current trends, contemporary and leading practices in volunteer engagement.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation across all RFDS Victoria volunteer programs by monitoring performance, evaluating impact, and identifying opportunities for growth, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
- Lead change initiatives to implement new volunteering models that support strategic growth, ensuring the volunteering management framework is aligned with National Standards for Volunteering Involvement.
- Forge strong partnerships and represent RFDS Victoria in key networks to champion volunteer engagement, collaboration, and innovative approaches to community involvement.
- Develop strategies to recognise and elevate volunteer contributions in advocacy campaigns, funding grants and associated activities.

To be successful, you will need:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in volunteer services, health, human resources, business or equivalent (postgraduate study such as a Master’s or Graduate Certificate in Business, Management, Health, or Human Resources is highly regarded).
- Minimum five years’ experience managing a diverse volunteer cohort, including extensive experience recruiting and training volunteers.
- In‑depth knowledge of the not‑for‑profit sector and proven ability to apply National Standards for Volunteer Involvement.
- Strong capability in strategic, resource, performance, and change management to drive organisational success.
- Excellent communication skills to build trust, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.
- Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current Driver’s Licence, National Police Check, and the right to work in Australia
