People Advisor
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate People Advisor to join our team at the Broken Hill base. This is a true generalist role with varied and interesting work in a supportive and experienced team. This role will offer tremendous growth and development to the successful candidate. Our structure is led by two People Business Partners (based in Broken Hill and Dubbo) and you will be working alongside our Dubbo People Advisor. This year we have expanded the partner team to include a People Administrator and a People Specialist (with an L&D focus). Alongside us is the Payroll team (based in Sydney and Broken Hill), making us a team of 8.
Our 96-year-old organisation is in an exciting period of growth and change. We have recently launched our new HRIS (Pulse) and you will participate in our ongoing system implementation including developing and rolling out our remaining modules, alongside coaching and training our leaders and employees in the new system.

The Role
As the first point of contact for all general day-to-day HR enquiries across the employee lifecycle, you will help to drive HR best practice, manage HR issues and HR initiatives that align with our strategic objectives. Some of the key focus areas for this role will be:
- Partnering with leaders to advise and coach on attraction, retention, employee relations and industrial relations.
- Leading all recruitment activities such as candidate management, coordination of interviews, conducting referee and background checks, preparing letters of offer, visa application process, onboarding of new starters and offboarding.
- Resolution of workplace issues (grievances), investigations and case management.
- Delivering HR projects and guiding policy development and the implementation of new legislation.
- Provide employee relations and industrial advice to employees, including enterprise agreements, awards, policies and procedures.
- Supporting our Enterprise Agreement negotiations through market research, development of new condition proposals and taking an active role at the negotiation table.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Human Resource Practices
- Experience in interpreting employment Legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Highly effective administration, planning and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management and relationship building ability
- The ability and flexibility to travel to RFDSSE locations (Sydney and Dubbo)
