Expressions of Interest for Indigenous Community Engagement Officer – Based in Broken Hill

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) of Australia South Eastern Section provides comprehensive health services, including community engagement, to remote communities in far west NSW SA and QLD. We currently have an opportunity for Indigenous Community Engagement Officer to assist in engaging with the Indigenous Community in our operational areas, to provide an effective and culturally safe service. This position is expected to not only improve the knowledge and trust of RFDS within the communities, but to also contribute to strengthen the health of individuals and communities through community consultation, health promotion, early intervention and direct provision of support to groups and individuals.

We are looking for someone with:

- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including empathy, compassion and care with experience in Indigenous community engagement;
- Experience in working in culturally diverse environments where high levels of respect and client confidentiality is required;
- Experience in working in traditional Indigenous support services in one on one and group settings; and
- Demonstrated experience in networking, community development, health promotion, advocacy and working in partnership & Program delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity to focus on community engagement activities focusing mainly on the Indigenous populations and ranging from provision of written and verbal information, to public presentations, advocacy, community development, group facilitation and one on one engagement.
