The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live in and travel through remote, rural and regional Australia.

The role is a contract 2 years full-time position. Technology is vitally important to the RFDS to deliver its services to some very remote areas of Australia. From its inception, RFDS has been using the technology of the day starting with pedal powered two-way radio, then moving onto telephones and now onto Telehealth via the Internet (sometime Satellite). This position is to help deliver and support this new technology and systems. While this includes responding to staff issues via Helpdesk and other communication media, it will also require the ability to assist in developing and documenting new systems and technology. This will include hardware, software, network, communications, applications and procurement. While the role is based in Sydney, travel across the South Eastern section will be required periodically to the other base locations and clinics where required.

Do you have the following essential experience/education?

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in a relevant discipline

  • Previous roles in customer service with excellent customer service skills

  • Demonstrated ability to create and update and maintain documentation.

  • Demonstrated server and communications network system administration skills.
