Description
Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) is seeking expressions of interest from Senior Mental Health Clinicians to support community health and wellbeing across outback Queensland. The RFDS Community Health and Wellbeing Service offers free counselling and support to people living and working in rural and remote areas impacted by natural disasters.
We are seeking proactive clinicians, dedicated to providing client-centred care and experienced in supporting people with outreach services. As a representative of our trusted service, you will assist in connecting communities and reducing isolation. You will play a vital role in building community capacity by offering education and engagement services with a strong emphasis on empowering communities to support their members when they need it.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for Clinicians that meet the following criteria;
- Registration with AHPRA or membership of the AASW
- Qualification in Psychology, Social Work (Accredited with AASW), Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing (Suitable for Mental Health credentialing)
- Post-graduate experience in a relevant clinical field
- Demonstrated experience in brief interventions, and therapeutic counselling with patients across the lifespan
- Demonstrated experience and respectful understanding of cultural diversity including traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander views of health and wellness
- Working with Children- Blue Card (Social Workers Only)
These roles will be based out of regional, rural and remote locations across Queensland and will be worked in a fly-in and fly-out capacity from Brisbane. RFDS will support you with all travel and accommodation. You will work a roster for 12 on and 9 off on an initial contract that will run until the end of July 2025.

We aim to enhance psychosocial resilience and promote community connection through adaptable and accessible services. RFDS is committed to helping those affected by recent disasters and future events to recover and thrive, with a focus on meeting evolving emotional and mental health needs. We support communities through boots-on-the-ground clinicians, Tele-Mental Health services, community-driven initiatives, training, and capacity building.
