Hire to Retire
Do you love mechanics or engineering? Do you have a passion for aircraft and the aviation industry? If the answer is yes, then we have an amazing opportunity for you. Jump on board to help build the next chapter of the RFDS in Broken Hill. We need to ‘hire to retire’ and are looking for our next generation of apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. Aircraft Engineering is a highly regarded industry that is very technical, highly professional, very challenging but immensely rewarding.
If this sounds like a career that you want to immerse yourself in, then an apprenticeship as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) in the mechanical category is the perfect basis for your future? Apprenticeships for this position will be offered at the RFDSSE Aircraft Maintenance facility in Broken Hill, NSW.
Our Engineering Department provides aircraft maintenance and servicing for the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern (RFDSSE) Section fleet of aircraft at bases in Broken Hill, Dubbo, Sydney, Essendon and Launceston.
The apprenticeship is for a term of 4 years with the intention of training the apprentice in both the theoretical and practical aspects of aircraft maintenance to develop him/her in becoming an AME. From an AME, the candidate can progress through to becoming a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer where he/she will be responsible for certifying for aircraft maintenance within our organisation. During the term of the apprenticeship there will be opportunities to attend short term work at other bases within the RFDSSE network to gain further experience in the organisation’s operations. The position will suit a highly motivated applicant who has a desire to achieve a fulfilling career in aviation maintenance. Qualifications will be gained through the NSW TAFE system by block release programs to Certificate IV/Diploma levels and will require applicants to have a proven culture of dedicated study.
It is expected that the apprenticeship will commence in early 2024, however, dates are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants are required to have:
- Minimum completion of Year 10/School Certificate level
- Successful passes in Mathematics Science and English
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated IT Skills
