Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is an organisation that requires little introduction. We’ve been supporting rural and remote communities since 1928 and are there when we’re needed most. In the past 12 months we have delivered over 85,000 occasions of care including Emergency Retrieval, Patient Transfers, Mental Health Consultations, Dental Care and Vaccinations and we’re now seeking our next Medical Officers to join us in 2024/2025.
Are you ready for a change from a hospital setting or even out of the city? We are currently recruiting for the Emergency Retrieval team of our organisation. Opportunities are available for Full Time Registrars and Part Time Consultants. With us you’ll get the best of both worlds, regional living and the opportunity to be with a patient from the second they call for help to ensure they receive the best care.
Based in Dubbo, you will split your time between rotations to both of our bases (our second being Broken Hill), time in our local hospitals and providing telehealth services. Dubbo, approximately a 4.5h drive from Sydney, a thriving regional hub at the crossroads of three major highways and one of NSW’s top regional tourist destinations, is filled with bustling cafes and plenty of recreational activities for the whole family. Broken Hill, being the gateway to the true Outback is a diverse town full of history, art, amazing scenery and some of the best pubs in NSW.
Who are we looking for? We require our Medical Officers to:
- have a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience
- be an advanced trainee with 18 months critical care (ED and ICU) and 6 months of Anaesthetics experience
- have experience in the management of critically ill patients including trauma
- ideally have knowledge of ALS, APLS, ATLS (or equivalent) and modern critical care practice
- Base salary of $198K plus 20% shift worker loading - plus generous salary packaging;
- Housing allowance to the value of $30,000.00 per year or RFDS provided housing for full time employees;
- Five weeks of annual leave;
