This role will be working in communities across Western New South Wales and can be based in the applicant’s location.
  
The Aboriginal Community Engagement Coordinator is an Aboriginal identified position that will support community engagement. Your role will directly influence how RFDSSE consults with and works in communities, to ensure we deliver effective community engagement, ongoing engagement for culturally informed service, support RFDSSE deliver services within the communities we serve as well as supporting our internal Aboriginal Leadership Group and reconciliation action plan activities.
  
You will be an active member of the RFDSSE team contributing to the fostering of resilient, well-connected communities, and raising the profile of the RFDSSE in the communities we serve.

 What you will be doing
  • Working in partnership with community groups and organisations collaboratively to tackle identified issues and work towards improved health outcomes
  • Support community need of effective cultural responsiveness and appropriateness within RFDS services
  • Enhance capacity for services, funding and other opportunities by connecting residents, community groups and local organisations. Establish health, social wellbeing and inclusion by providing opportunities that encourage whole of community input
  • Maintain positive relationship with community stakeholders to inform the development of policy and options for community planning and services
  • Monitor projects and resources of the community development plan by preparing reports for feedback relating to the success of community development and engagement outcomes
  Essential knowledge and skills
  • Community relations role or related field and/or relevant experience
  • Understanding of Aboriginal Health needs in order to contribute to the strategic development of service delivery and Health initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating health or community programs, events and activities within a community setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health literacy, consumer and community engagement and network development, including current policies and frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community awareness programs
  • A positive and flexible attitude, willing to put yourself out there and work with our communities and team
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination
