Full Job Description
Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Registered Nurse with Midwifery, to join our dedicated Bundaberg Flight Nurse team. Providing invaluable aeromedical retrieval services to people living and travelling in regional and remote communities.

The Role:

  • Permanent, part-time role (0.6 FTE) – 9 shifts per month
  • Located at the RFDS Bundaberg Base
  • Providing emergency retrieval services & regular patient transfers
About You
You would describe yourself as an honest, reliable, and hardworking individual with the following specific criteria:
  • Registered Nurse and Midwife with AHPRA registration
  • Demonstrated 5 years’ post graduate experience (full-time equivalent)
  • Demonstrated 3 years’ experience in a critical care environment (in either a recognised tertiary hospital ED with 24 hour in-department medical coverage or a recognised ICU).
  • Ability to spend considerable time working in the confined spaces of a small aircraft
 Desirable Skills (Can be obtained after starting employment)
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS2)
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal resuscitation certification

RFDS Bundaberg Base is a busy emergency retrieval base, incorporating aeromedical retrieval and inter-hospital transfer services. The new Bundaberg Aeromedical Base opened in 2020 with a patient transfer facility that provides comfortable, clinical care for patients. Patients are flown with conditions ranging from acute medical conditions, trauma cases, to the transfer of expectant mothers and infants to specialist care in Brisbane. In Bundaberg, you will work with a highly skilled team of nurses, pilots, and support staff in a busy, friendly, and dynamic environment, making a difference in people’s everyday lives by delivering vital care in emergency situations.

Successful candidates will be subject to a Police Check and Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing.  Candidates are required to hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence and obtain an ASIC Card. Prior to appointment you will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD. You will also be required to successfully complete the RFDS and Queensland Health credentialing process.

RFDS (Queensland Section) works with vulnerable patients in remote parts of Queensland and provides an essential service to many regional and remote communities. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, our patients, and these communities, as well as to manage the risks involved in service delivery and COVID-19 transmission in these communities and our workplaces, our staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are the successful candidate the requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including maintaining any recommended booster requirements, will be a term of your employment, as will the requirement to provide proof of vaccination.
