The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) are actively seeking an experienced Aviation Safety Manager in a permanent full-time capacity based in Brisbane.
The Aviation Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring all activity meets quality, safety, contractual and financial requirements. They have key accountability in ensuring Aviation compliance in accordance with CASA regulations and RFDS (Queensland Section) policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing safety technical advice, guidance, education and support to Line Managers to drive compliance with Civil Aviation legislation and standards
  • Managing compilation of safety data, results, trend monitoring and other indices of RFDS (Qld Section) aviation safety.
  • Developing and reviewing aviation safety policies, procedures and manuals
  • Providing support and advice to the Aviation Safety Team in the areas of aviation and engineering safety and compliance, transport security and fatigue risk
  • Investigating aviation hazards, incidents and accidents within RFDS (Qld Section) and report results, trends and recommendations to the Aviation Safety Manager
  • Producing education materials and safety and quality reports (Safety Action Group, Aviation Safety Review Committee etc.)
  • Contributing to business improvement/quality programs and enterprise risk management activities.
Who are we looking for?
You will be able to work in small teams, be agile in your approach, dedicated to the job and focused on the task at hand.
  • Aviation Safety qualification or similar
  • Quality and Safety audit qualification
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated understanding of quality and safety concepts including continuous quality improvement
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Significant knowledge of and experience in Safety Management Systems; Human Factors and accident/incident investigation
  • Extensive experience in safety data analysis, trend monitoring, reporting, and risk management principles and practices with the ability to solve problems in a complex environment.
