RFDS Charleville Base is looking for experienced critical care Registered Nurses with Midwifery to join the team and provide invaluable aeromedical retrieval services to people living and travelling in regional and remote communities.
You have strong values, service delivery and personal development and build strong trust-based relationships with those around you. You demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, maturity, a sense of humour and provide genuine care to your patients.
You would describe yourself as a honest, reliable and hardworking individual with the following specific criteria:

  • Registered with AHPRA to practise Nursing and Midwifery
  • 5 years post graduate experience (full time equivalent) (FTE).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a critical care environment- 24 hour in-department medical coverage/ tertiary hospital (within the last 7 years)
  • Ability to spend considerable time working in the confined spaces of a small aircraft
Desirable Skills (Can be obtained after starting employment)

  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS2)
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal resuscitation certification
We are offering permanent, full time roles of 15 shifts per 28-day roster period.

RFDS Charleville Base provides aeromedical retrievals, inter-facility transfers and primary health care services.  As an Aeromedical Flight Nurse your day could involve flying to Birdsville, across to Toowoomba or Brisbane or any of the other many places throughout Queensland that we serve.  There is a huge variety of clinical presentations requiring retrieval including intensive care, trauma, emergency, cardiac, neurology, obstetrics, paediatrics, and neonates.  No day is ever the same in this dynamic base with new and exciting challenges that will require your extensive critical care skills and knowledge.

Successful candidates will be subject to a Police Checks and Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing.  Candidates are required to hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence and obtain an ASIC Card. Prior to appointment you will be required to provide certified copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD. You will also be required to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process.

RFDS (Queensland Section) works with vulnerable patients in remote parts of Queensland and provides an essential service to many regional and remote communities. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, our patients and these communities, as well as to manage the risks involved in service delivery and COVID-19 transmission in these communities and our workplaces, our staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are the successful candidate the requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including maintaining any recommended booster requirements, will be a term of your employment, as will the requirement to provide proof of vaccination.
