Description
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) offers a Dental Service through the Mobile Dental Unit (MDU) to assist rural and remote Queenslanders with access to dental care. The MDU, which has two state-of-the-art dental surgeries, serves upwards of 70 patients per week and offers a range of services, from preventive care to extraction and houses an onboard orthopantomogram or OPG unit. The MDU aims to address the immediate need for dental care in communities within QLD and improve overall health by providing a regular ongoing service.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced Dentist with a minimum of two years’ clinical experience. In this role, you will provide high-quality dental care to patients, including conducting clinical examinations, diagnosing dental conditions, developing treatment plans, delivering appropriate treatments, including extractions, providing oral health education, maintaining accurate clinical records, and supporting patients with post-treatment care.
To succeed in this role, you will be a dynamic and committed professional who aligns with our organisational and MDU goals. You will have strong communication skills and be a reliable team player who can practise confidently and autonomously in a remote environment. You will bring cultural awareness and adapt your clinical approach to meet their needs. You will also be highly adaptable and maintain an organised, professional work style.
You will demonstrate:
- Registration with AHPRA, as a Dentist
- Extra Oral Radiation License
- Experience in rural and remote practice
- Ability to handle challenging operational situations in a calm and rational manner
- Proven clinical skills in managing a broad range of oral health issues
- Evidence of annual certification in Basic Life Support (or willing to obtain before commencement) and a Current First Aid Certificate (AED)
Our Roster- Supporting Balance!
We’re offering permanent, part-time opportunities with the flexibility to work up to 0.75FTE or less if desired! The 0.75 FTE role follows a rotating 12-week schedule where you will work 2 weeks on and 1 week off and have your last full rotation off! Giving you a 4-week break every 12 weeks.
