Events key to fundraising

Fundraising has come a long way since the days of chook raffles and chocolate wheels. Funds raised from various events held throughout the year provide funding for much-needed services that RFDS Victoria delivers to rural and regional communities across the state.

Fundraising has come a long way since the days of chook raffles and chocolate wheels. Funds raised from various events held throughout the year provide funding for much-needed services that RFDS Victoria delivers to rural and regional communities across the state.

Held in July, the recent Run Melbourne event saw an impressive 63 people run for RFDS, with many runners achieving their personal best. A record-breaking year for staff participation, 23 of the 63 participants were staff members from Richmond, Alphington and Keilor.

The Flying Doctor Support Crew raised an impressive total of over $10,000. Sandra Olsen and Sam Drake ran the Support Crew marquee on the day and commented that it was great to have staff from many branches coming together to support each other and forge strong team spirit at the event.

From luncheons to four-wheel driving adventures, there are many key events to look forward to before the year ends.

Upcoming events include:

Melbourne Marathon

Held on 14 October, Melbourne Marathon gives runners a chance to challenge themselves and raise money for a chosen cause. Join the RFDS Ground Crew at www.groundcrew.org.au

Drive 4x4 The Doc
