Workplace Giving-Victorian Section

Workplace Giving provides opportunities for companies and their employees to develop relationships with the work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Companies regularly invite the RFDS to join their Workplace Giving programs and then, often, to consider ways in which the RFDS might interact with management and employees on an ongoing basis.

Workplace Giving allows employees to make regular donations to eligible organisations through their company’s payroll. The employee can then seek a tax deduction for their annual contribution.

Employers and staff can choose to donate to the RFDS as we are a registered deductible gift recipient (DGR).

There are simple rules in place that mean implementing a workplace giving program is relatively easy for both employers and employees and it doesn’t take long for contributions to grow into sizeable annual donations that can be put towards vital equipment, projects and programs that will make a difference to our services.

Matched Giving

Some companies also choose to match employee contributions to charity, no matter whether they are through Workplace Giving, Community Fundraising or other donations. The criteria under which donations can be matched varies from company to company. It can be all or a percentage of the donations raised by their employees in all or only in certain circumstances (e.g. an event which involves a certain number of employees) When an organisation matches its employees’ contributions, employees know their charitable donations go further and that their commitment to community development is a value shared by their employer.

The simplicity and effectiveness of this type of program is reflected in its growing popularity in Australia.
