About this Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Clinical Manager, as a Flight Nurse, you will be motivated to work in a diverse, fulfilling and rewarding environment to deliver outstanding patient care.

We believe our people – all of our people – keep the Royal Flying Doctor Service flying.

Specifically, you will:

- Commence as a Low Acuity Flight Nurse providing direct quality nursing care for an individual or group of patients, within an aeromedical environment.
- Conduct preflight assessments on patients in conjunction with the RFDS Medical Practitioner
- Perform risk assessments of all patients
- Recognise and respond to clinically deteriorating patients and escalate care appropriately
- Take initiative in emergency situations without an immediate Medical Practitioner available
- Perform comprehensive handovers to provide continuity of nursing management to Ambulance personnel, clinic, care provider and/or receiving hospital

About You

You are:
- An AHPRA Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years critical care nursing experiencing in emergency and/or intensive care nursing
- Someone who has a sense of adventure, outstanding communication skills and the ability to make decisions in high pressure situations
- A patient focused nurse who is professional in your approach to service delivery
- Able to work both as the sole practitioner and with minimal supervision, and collaboratively with other professionals to provide high quality health care

To be considered for the role you require:
- General nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
- Post Graduate Qualification (or working towards) in Critical Care or Emergency Nursing
- Graduate Certificate of Aeromedical Retrieval (desirable)
- Demonstrated compliance with NT Health Occupational Vaccination requirements
