The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) are leaders in providing access to aeromedical and primary health care services to people in remote, rural, and regional locations. In our journey towards our 100th year of providing services, we are committed to providing the finest care in the furthest corner. 
  
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) in a pivotal, role! Supporting, and leading Cairns Base in a permanent, full-time capacity.
  
This role reports to the State Manager – Base Support Services, and is responsible for the efficient functioning of Cairns Base, including coordination of administrative, financial, operational activities and resources.  This role supports the leadership of the base to ensure the delivery of timely and efficient administration support, reporting and financial processing.
  
Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Administrative team to ensure delivery of quality administration support
  • Manage human resource activities for administrative employees
  • Foster a safe and encouraging environment for innovation, and provide opportunities for new ideas that improve service delivery
  • Role model to others what it means to be an organisational ambassador who reflects the values, promise and brand of the organisation to build a positive Base culture
  • As part of the base leadership team, actively work across the whole team to create a cohesive culture of connectedness and employee engagement aligned with RFDS values
  • Contribute to supporting Base compliance with Workplace Health and Safety
  • Manage security and associated protocols for Base buildings and hangar
  • Ensure Disaster Management Plan and Business Continuity Plan is maintained and activated as required
  • Review and recommend state-wide process improvements and efficiencies relating to administrative functions without compromising service delivery
  • Contribute to the development of the base annual budget process and ensure the budget is managed effectively.
To be considered for this role it is essential you meet the criteria below:
  • 5 – 7 years relevant experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Team leadership experience with the ability to coach and mentor staff
  • Demonstrated project management experience in process improvement efficiencies
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills of self and others
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and manage workloads 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications particularly Outlook, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to work across and influence at all levels including Executive and Senior Management.
