The RFDS has 21 bases across the country, providing 24-hour medical care 365 days a year and servicing an area covering more that 7 million square kilometres of this vast continent. The services provided by the RFDS are managed on a day-to-day basis by four operational sections – South Eastern, Central, Western and Queensland. Each operational section has a number of bases within their geographical area.

Our Diversity

Your FAQ
1. How many employees work for the RFDS? How many people are there at each base?
There are approximately 800 employees working for the RFDS nation wide. The size of the bases varies between approximately 20 and 150 employees.
2. Can I apply even when there is currently no vacancy that matches my skill set?
Yes. When you click on Position Vacancies on the left, you will find a link that will direct you to a 'register your interest' form. You will be placed on an active hold list for three months. You are also encouraged to respond to any positions advertised by the RFDS during this time.
3. Is there a graduate program?
The RFDS does not have a formalised graduate program but graduates are encouraged to apply for any positions relating to their skill set.
