In Tasmania the RFDS (South Eastern Section) based at Broken Hill has the air ambulance contract with the Tasmanian Ambulance Service. Under this contract, SE Section operates a BEECHCRAFT KINGAIR 200 which is based at our hangar at Western Junction.
Last year in Tasmania the RFDS carried approximately 1000 patients, and flew about half a million kilometres, including from Flinders Island, King Island, Wynyard, Launceston, Hobart, St Helens, Queenstown and Strahan. Tasmanian patients were also transported to Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
