RFDS Central Operations provides aeromedical emergency, primary and preventive healthcare services across more than 2.3 million square kilometres covering South Australia, the southern half of the Northern Territory and, on occassions, areas within Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.

Central Operations 2010/11:

  • 3 aeromedical bases (Adelaide, Port Augusta & Alice Springs)
  • 2 primary healthcare facilities (Marree & Tennant Creek)
  • 11 aircraft
  • 165 staff
Health statistics
  • 50,541 patients contacts, including; 
    - 8,649 primary (remote) evacuations and inter-hospital transfers
    - 6,877 telehealth consultations
  • 3,141 healthcare clinics conducted
Aviation statistics
  • Flew 5.3 million kms
  • Landed 14,792 times
  • Flew 14,147 hours
