The RFDS began operations at Mascot in January 2003.

Our mission

  • to provide the NSW Air Ambulance with pilots, engineers and aeromedically equipped aircraft to ensure that we can deliver an integrated air ambulance service to our area
  • to support RFDS operations in rural and remote regions of South Eastern Australia with surplus funds from the NSW Air Ambulance contract

Fast facts

  • we operate four King Air B200 aircraft
  • our team consists of 20 pilots, 10 engineers and five administrative/technical support staff
  • our longest regular flight destination is to Lord Howe Island, although we regularly operate flights to 113 destinations including Melbourne and Brisbane

 

2006-2007 Mission accomplished!

  • 4,946 inter-hospital transfers performed
  • 2,415,884 kms flown
  • 7,850 landings executed
